Application Guidelines
The following matters will be taken into consideration in assessing your application:
The completeness of the nomination form. Those nominations received with incomplete sections, particularly the historical research or story of the person being nominated, will not be considered.
The person is deceased.
The person has a clear and sustained association with the Bathurst region. This may be satisfied by the nominee having lived in the area for a time, but not necessarily having been born here.
The person’s life story includes a contribution or achievement that could be said to have added something special to the wider story of the Bathurst district, and ideally offering inspiration to living and future Bathurstians.
The uniqueness of the nominee and the relative interest of their story compared to the other ‘Pillars’ already commemorated or nominated.
The robustness of the nominee's story.
Verifiable sources are provided to support the information.
The nominee’s story should be robust and the story and facts should be verifiable from a number of sources. Bathurst Library, as part of Bathurst Regional Council, will rely on the sources provided to verify the information.
Bathurst Library, as part of Bathurst Regional Council, will maintain all rights to the text and photographs as may be provided on the nomination form for use in the Pillars of Bathurst project.
Bathurst Library reserves the right to select all future nominees based on the assessment criteria outlined above. The library will seek to consider the representativeness of each approved nomination against the existing Pillars.
Submissions have closed for 2024. They will reopen in 2025.
