Joy Rayner is a keen hiker and loves the challenge of seeing the world on foot. After walking in Spain in 2017 and Japan in 2019, the COVID lockdown of 2021 meant looking closer to home for her walks. Not one to say no to a challenge, Joy tackled the Larapinta Trail exploring the West MacDonnell Ranges of the Northern Territory. After a ‘tree-change’ from Sydney, Joy made Bathurst her home, she is now a member of the Central West Bushwalking Club.

Joy’s talk will cover her experiences on Larapinta, with accompanying imagery, as well as details of the Indigenous and white settler history of the area.

Joy will also bring some info on how you can get involved in hiking or join the local hiking club.
