Big Summer Read for ages 0-18

Big Summer Read is a great way for kids to stay connected with books during the holidays.

This challenge encourages children to read regularly, explore new stories, and build confidence in their reading. It’s not just about ticking off titles—it’s about enjoying the journey, discovering favourite authors, and keeping minds active while school’s out.

Big Summer Read is a collaboration between libraries and sponsors across multiple states and is designed to combat the summer slump, where literacy gains are lost over the weeks away from school. Encourage your child to read each day, log their books and go in the draw to win a prize!

Big Summer Read is hosted on the Read Books website. Follow the link below to register and log your reading from 1st December 2025.

A minimum of 5 books OR 5 days of reading must be recorded to be eligible for the prize draw.

Paper logs are available in the library if online participation is not possible.
