The Dementia Guide

The Dementia Guide is the go-to resource for people living with dementia their carers and family. The information in this guide is divided into sections with each section relating to a particular stage of the dementia journey. The guide supports people living with dementia, their carers and family, to understand more about dementia, the treatments, support and services available. The guide also includes information about living well with dementia and making plans for the future.

AVAILABLE SERVICES:

MEMORY LOSS

Do you experience memory loss or mild cognitive impairment? Have you received a recent diagnosis of dementia? Are you a carer who would like to discuss supports and services available for people with dementia and their families?

The Dementia Awareness & Support Team in the Western NSW LHD is funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program and services. Clinicians include qualified staff with local knowledge & access to referral networks that can support you, your carer and your family.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility requires a person to be over the age of 65 or over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

CALM Carers Advocacy Learning Mentoring

Calm Logo

  • CALM is a family carers group that provides dementia education, carer mentoring & peer support.
  • The group caters for family carers of people with dementia/memory loss & the group now meets monthly, on the last Monday 10.30 am-12:00 pm (Feb-Nov) at 20 William St, Bathurst
  • Tea/coffee is provided & participants are welcome to bring a small plate of morning tea to share.

The Bathurst Dementia Alliance

The Bathurst Dementia Alliance is committed to making Bathurst a Dementia Friendly Community, working to promote inclusion, reduce isolation and help connect people with dementia and their carers to participate meaningfully in their community. Through education we hope to reduce fear and stigma, and promote a better understanding of people’s lived experience with dementia.

This friendly group includes people with dementia, carers, community members, local and government services.

We meet at the Neighbourhood Centre, 96 Rusell Street, Bathurst,  on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 10am till 11am.
